1. Long Beach Legacy Inc. acts as a workforce catalyst for the Westside of Long Beach, bridging the critical divide between classroom instruction and real-world industrial application. Through an innovative, multi-entity alliance spanning the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), the Long Beach Job Corps Center, and Long Beach City College (LBCC), we systematically eliminate the relational friction that traditionally slows down workforce preparation.
2. School districts deliver the vital educational foundation: dedicated instructional staff, academic content, and core Career Technical Education (CTE) coursework. However, curriculum alone cannot fully prepare a student to navigate the modern industrial landscape.
3. Long Beach Legacy Inc. transforms this baseline education into an active career pipeline. We do not replace what schools do; we amplify it.
4. We layer high-skill experiences, professional mentorship, and direct industry exposure over traditional coursework through our three-phase framework:
5. EXPLORE: We ignite early interest by coordinating facility tours with advanced local tech primes, hosting industry speakers, and financing youth-led engineering workshops for younger Westside peers.
6. LEGACY: Students enter specialized Small Learning Communities (SLCs) to acquire skills in technical design, advanced manufacturing, and blueprint reading, honoring the industrial roots of their community. Concurrently, we embed personal resilience and wellness coaching directly into the technical labs, equipping youth with the focus, stress management, and communication skills required to thrive on a high-stakes shop floor.
7. EARN: We transition candidates seamlessly into paid industry internships, apprenticeships, and localized employment. Simultaneously, we connect students to skills trades at LBCC through Dual Enrollment, 100% tuition-free via the Long Beach College Promise.
8. To ensure long-term corporate success and employee retention, Long Beach Legacy Inc. provides 365 days of continuous post-placement support. Our dedicated career coaches insulate candidates from workplace friction and logistical barriers, turning initial job placements into stable, upwardly mobile careers.
